Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about ECU remapping, mobile service, and common concerns.
What is ECU remapping?
ECU remapping is a software optimisation of your vehicle’s engine control unit. It improves how the engine delivers power, torque, and efficiency by refining manufacturer safety margins. No hardware changes are required.
Is ECU remapping safe?
Yes — when done correctly. We only apply custom, vehicle-specific maps that stay within safe engine and gearbox tolerances. We do not use generic “one-file-fits-all” maps.
How long does a remap take?
Most vehicles take 60–90 minutes in total, including diagnostics, file reading, tuning, and final checks. Some ECUs may take slightly longer depending on access method.
Is the service mobile?
Yes. We are a fully mobile service across the Midlands and come to your home or workplace. No garage visits, no waiting rooms.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover the entire Midlands, including Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and surrounding areas.
If you’re unsure, contact us — chances are we still cover you.

Will a remap increase fuel economy?
In many cases, yes. An eco or torque-optimised remap can improve fuel efficiency when driven sensibly, especially on diesel vehicles used for motorway or long-distance driving.
Can I choose between performance and economy?
Absolutely. We offer:
- Stage 1 performance remaps
- Eco remaps
- Balanced setups combining power and economy
Will a remap affect my insurance?
You should inform your insurer of any performance modification. Many insurers accept ECU remaps, and some charge little or no increase. It’s always best to declare it.
Will my vehicle pass an MOT after a remap?
Yes. A standard Stage 1 or eco remap does not affect MOT compliance.
For vehicles with DPF, EGR, or AdBlue issues, legality depends on how the vehicle is used. We will always explain the implications clearly before any work is carried out.

Do you offer DPF, EGR, or AdBlue solutions?
Yes. We provide diagnostics-led solutions for DPF, EGR, and AdBlue systems where appropriate. We will always assess fault codes and vehicle condition before advising.
Can you remap automatic and DSG vehicles?
Yes. We remap both manual and automatic vehicles, including DSG and other modern gearboxes. Gearbox software upgrades may be recommended on higher-torque vehicles.
Can the remap be removed?
Yes. Your original software is backed up and can be restored if required.
Will a remap void my warranty?
A remap may affect manufacturer warranty. If your vehicle is under warranty, let us know and we’ll advise honestly on your options.
